I Want To Help Yes Unlimited

Yes Unlimited believes that ending homelessness is everyone’s responsibility. We love it when the community gets on board by supporting our work. If you’re interested in supporting Yes Unlimited’s work, there are a few things that really help out:

Cash Donations

Your donations allow us to be flexible, creative and targeted in the way we assist the people we work with, above and beyond any regular funding we receive. Yes Unlimited is 100% local and we’ll make sure your donation is put to good use helping the people of Albury and surrounds.

Your cash donations can help by:

  • Contributing to our ‘Living Life Fund’- which is essentially like a scholarship for ‘out-of-the-box’ type things that build on people’s aspirations and talents. This might include purchasing an instrument for a budding musician, paying for someone’s course fees or a uniform for their new job, membership to a local sporting or recreation club, driving lessons, or covering the cost of an outfit for a high school formal. The possibilities are endless!
  • Upgrades and extras for our refuges and client spaces – physical environments play a huge role in people’s sense of safety, comfort and ability to heal.
  • Increasing our capacity to support people out of homelessness quickly with more trained staff on the ground.
  • Creating additional therapeutic and recreational group work opportunities for our clients.

Vouchers

Vouchers are a simple, practical, and dignified way to help an individual or family who might need it. A few ideas for vouchers you could donate:

  • Experience Vouchers: Movie tickets, laser tag, Bounce, bowling or something along these lines are appreciated opportunities for families or an individual to get away from it all and do something fun, when they may not otherwise be able to afford it.
  • Practical Vouchers: Supermarket, fuel, hardware or department store vouchers are really useful, particularly when people have hit a crisis point or are just struggling to make ends meet.
  • Christmas Vouchers: Any kind of voucher is especially appreciated during the giving season. There is something really nice about people being able to use the voucher to go and choose something for their loved one themselves when budgets are already quite stretched.

You can deliver vouchers to: The Hub, 562 Macauley Street, Albury, or post them to Yes Unlimited, PO BOX 3125, Albury, NSW 2640.

Giving the things you usually do

For example, if you’re a hairdresser why not donate a few vouchers for haircuts. An employer? Maybe we could connect you with someone we know who’s looking for a job or work experience. If you’re a property owner, we might have a tenant that could really use a fair go. If you have some ideas about how you might be able to contribute, we’d love to have a chat.

Volunteering opportunities

These become available from time to time at Yes Unlimited, in particular within our youth mentoring program. This program partners everyday people in the community with young people who may benefit from having a new, positive adult in their life. The gift of your time when these opportunities come up is invaluable!

Donations of food, Christmas presents and other goods

Yes Unlimited is unable to accept donations of food, clothing, household or other physical goods. Our focus is primarily on providing people with personalised support for achieving long term outcomes.

While we greatly appreciate the offers we regularly receive, we simply aren’t set up with the required storage space, or staff who are available to step away from their direct work with people, to manage and distribute all that generosity.

Yes Unlimited works closely with local organisations who are well set up to provide this kind of practical assistance. These are the organisations who we turn to when we have people who need it, and they also provide support and distribute donations to the many people in need across the Albury-Wodonga area.

Our causes – support our policy and advocacy work

Yes Unlimited is passionate about investing in our community and have a vision for “Future Generations without homelessness by 2050”.

We work towards this by advocating to government, working with our peak bodies on relevant social campaigns and are particularly passionate about reforming our local systems. Yes Unlimited holds a particular view that issues such as homelessness and domestic and family violence are best addressed through structural and systemic change that gets to the core of these issues.

If you care about these issues too, we encourage you to think about writing to your local member, supporting some of our campaigns and having conversations with your friends and family about them.
