Broughton House is located in Albury and provides crisis accommodation for up to five young people aged between 16 and 18 years old. Broughton House is staffed 24hrs a day 7 days a week so there is always support available during your stay from experienced youth workers. The team at Broughton House will work with you to stay connected with family, friends, school and the community. Sometimes you might just need a short ‘time out’ and the opportunity to work on some of the issues with your family. If you’re unable to live at home we can support you to get ready for living independently through our ‘Housing Ready’ program where we’ll work with you to learn skills around signing a lease, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, paying bills, and everything else you’ll need to live independently successfully.
Young people accessing our accommodation services partner with a case manager who will talk to you about your situation, help you develop some goals for the future and support you in achieving these goals. Our team of case managers also provide support to young people on an outreach basis, meaning you don’t have to come into the refuge to get the support you need. You will also have access to our onsite Wellbeing Worker who will provide a safe space to talk and emotional support during and after your stay in our accommodation service. The experience of homelessness and other crisis situations often comes with a level of ‘trauma’ or emotional distress and our Wellbeing Worker can assist you in moving forward after a difficult time.
You can access Broughton House through our Centralised Intake team at The HUB on 562 Macauley Street Albury or you can give us a call on 1800 885 355. Outside of normal business hours you can contact Broughton House directly on 1800 040 065. If we aren’t able to answer please leave a message and we’ll return your call as soon as possible. If we have a vacancy and you are unsure about staying at Broughton House please call us to arrange a tour with one of our staff. Depending on your situation and the current situation in the house we can sometimes be flexible in terms of age and length of stay, so please contact us if you have any questions about this. We work hard to make sure our accommodation services are a ‘homelike’ environment and would encourage you to have a chat with our staff if you’re feeling uncertain about using the service.
